Is there anyone poor among you, one of your brothers, in any town of yours in the country which Yahweh your God is giving you? Do not harden your heart or close your hand against that poor brother of yours, but be open-handed with him and lend him enough for his needs.

ParishSOFT Collects Toiletries for Local Shelter
ParishSOFT continued the collection new, unopened toiletries (the kind from overnight hotel stays or similar) to be donated to The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County at The Delonis Center near downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Delonis Center provides temporary shelter and connections to services to nearly 1500 adults experiencing homelessness in the area and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – and has been in need of these supplies.
Some employees even took it upon themselves to start collections at their own churches to be included. The collection of supplies for the shelter will continue indefinitely.
Homeless Care Packages
The homeless care packages are a collection of socks, hand warmers, toothbrushes, travel size toothpaste, bar soap, travel-size hand sanitizer, granola bars, and travel-size tissues that are placed into boxes and made available for staff to pass out to individuals in need that they meet in their communities. During the winter of early 2019, ParishSOFT staff passed out over 30 homeless care packages and we plan to continue this effort in 2020.
ParishSOFT Participates in Local Food Drive
Summer is the hardest time of year for many children. The breakfast and lunch they receive at school might be the only time they eat all day. So when children do not have school during the summer months, those meals are no longer provided to them and unfortunately, they often go hungry.
In response to this need, ParishSOFT, and churches in the Ann Arbor, MI area collected non-perishable food during the month of May to benefit the Hope Clinic, a non-profit organization that provides medical and dental care – along with food and prayers – to families in need.
On Friday, June 7, 2019, the truckload of food collected in May at ParishSOFT was dropped off to the Hope Clinic, which doubled the amount of non-perishable food that the Hope Clinic had available to help area families.
ParishSOFT Collects 257 Backpacks to Help Local Students
The annual Back to School Bash organized by Ypsilanti Community Schools (YCS) is an event where school staff passes out backpacks and school supplies to local students in need. And for the second consecutive year, ParishSOFT wanted to help by organizing a collection for staff at their Ann Arbor, Michigan office.
ParishSOFT’s goal this year was to collect more than the 250 backpacks donated by the company in 2018. They succeeded and collected 257 backpacks as well as a large selection of school supplies to help students in the Ypsilanti, Michigan area!
