ParishSOFTAnn Arbor, MI – ParishSOFT announced today that it has acquired the Deacon Parish Management System from TheoLogic Systems®, Inc., a Bethel Park, PA software company. Introduced in 1991, Deacon had become the leading parish management system for Orthodox Christian churches, with over 300 parish customers.
ParishSOFT, which serves a user base of nearly 4,000 churches, is one of the fastest growing and most successful church management software companies in the market, thanks to its powerful church software products and commitment to qualified, responsive customer support.
TheoLogic Systems president and founder, Fr. John Touloumes, an Orthodox clergyman with over 20 years of active local and national ministry experience, stated that by teaming with ParishSOFT, Orthodox churches will obtain capabilities never before available.
“ParishSOFT has already begun incorporating the features essential to so many Orthodox parish offices into their already powerful church management package,” said Fr. Touloumes. “Now Orthodox parishes will have the best of both: the features that have made Deacon successful and the technology, power and support that have established ParishSOFT as one of the premier church management software companies. We are confident that our customers will be well-served by both the technology and people of ParishSOFT.”
Although the Deacon name and software will be discontinued, ParishSOFT has enthusiastically embraced the technical knowledge and pastoral insights gained during TheoLogic Systems’ 19 years of serving Orthodox churches. Features like commemorative and memorial donations and Orthodox-specific membership information, in development now for future release, will make Orthodox users feel at home while adding value and expanded functionality for all ParishSOFT users.
ParishSOFT President and CEO William Pressprich stated, “It has been a pleasure working with Fr. John. His commitment and dedication to serving the Orthodox community mirrors ParishSOFT’s own mission to serve the Church, and we are fully committed to helping Deacon users through a smooth transition to ParishSOFT.”
Pressprich added that ParishSOFT’s new ConnectNow web applications offer a whole new dimension of interaction between Orthodox churches and parishioners. Online giving, online registrations, self-serve options for church members, and a church accounting suite designed specifically for churches are among the new technologies that Deacon users will now have available to them. In addition, ParishSOFT’s remote access to church information offers true mobility for staff, as well as on-the-go support for ministries outside the church office. ParishSOFT programs also offer flexible contribution statements, an electronic sacramental registry, and integration with Microsoft® Office®.
To assist Deacon users in their transition, ParishSOFT will offer special license agreements, data conversion, support and teletraining to get church staff up and running quickly with their new software.
